PM Modi to attend Assam CM swearing-in on May 12; Himanta announces govt formation roadmap
Himanta Biswa Sarma, on May 8, said the process of formation of the new NDA government in Assam will begin after the BJP Legislative Party meeting scheduled for May 10.
Addressing the media in Guwahati, Sarma said the BJP Legislative Party will meet in the presence of central observers JP Nadda and Nayab Singh Saini.
“On the 10th, the BJP Legislative Party will meet in the presence of our Central Observer JP Nadda and Nayab Singh Saini. Once the leader is selected, it will be ratified by the NDA Legislative Party,” Sarma said.
He added that after the formal selection process, the legislative party would choose a delegation to meet the Governor and formally stake a claim to form the government.
“Once the formalities are over, the Legislative Party will select a delegation which will meet the Governor and stake a claim to form the government. Once the Governor extends an invitation, the process of government formation will start immediately. After a leader is chosen, the decision will be approved by the NDA Legislature Party, which includes two partners: Borderland People's Front and the Assam Gana Parishad and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP),” he stated.
Sarma further announced that the swearing-in ceremony of the new government will be held on May 12 at 11 AM in the presence of Narendra Modi and other dignitaries.
“On 12th May, at 11 AM, in the presence of PM Narendra Modi and other guests, the new government will take oath,” he said.
Speaking about his visit to West Bengal, Sarma said he would attend the oath-taking ceremony there on Saturday and described it as a historic occasion.
“Tomorrow is the oath. It will be a historical event. I am going there to participate in the event,” he added.
