PM Modi will handle Pakistanis outside the country, I will deal with those within: Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on May 5, while addressing a poll campaign rally in Bajali issued a stern message against what he termed as "internal enemies" of the nation. Reiterating his stand against individuals defending Pakistan, CM Sarma said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deal with the Pakistanis outside the country, but those within, Sarma vows to take stern action against them.

The Chief Minister addressing a rally, part of the campaign for the second phase of the Panchayat elections, slated for May 7, said, "Prime Minister Modi will handle the Pakistanis outside the country, but those supporting Pakistan within our borders — I will take strict action against them. I will not hesitate to thrash them and break their legs if required." He further revealed that over 40 individuals have already been arrested in Assam for allegedly defending Pakistan and warned that more arrests would follow if necessary.

"Enemies within the country are far more dangerous than those outside. This is the time for national unity, introspection, and unwavering support for our armed forces," CM Sarma urged the public.

Turning his attention to the political scenario, the Chief Minister also sounded the bugle for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections. "We are preparing from this year itself for the Vidhan Sabha polls. If votes go to the wrong party, Congress creates unrest. Therefore, I appeal to everyone not to vote for Congress. Even those contesting as independent candidates are, in reality, indirectly linked to the Congress," he claimed.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on May 2, warned of "breaking legs" of individuals raising the 'Pakistan zindabad' slogan, asserting strong action against those who raise pro-Pakistan slogans.

Addressing a campaign rally in Dhubri for the panchayat elections, Sarma appealed to the people to pray and give strength to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Army so that Pakistani terrorists hiding anywhere in the world can be hunted down.

"Pakistani terrorists came and killed innocent people, but some among us are saying 'Pakistan zindabad'. We have arrested a number of them, and if anyone raises 'Pakistan zindabad', we will break his legs," Sarma warned.

The CM also said that the state and the country do "not need people who live and eat here, but praise Pakistan".

"That's why I have instructed the police that you should not look at the faces of those who say 'Pakistan zindabad', just arrest them as per law and break their legs. We have to strengthen our Assam and India," he asserted.
