Price rise sparks anger at Assam's Kaliabor weekly market, consumers seek government action

Rapidly rising prices of onions, sugar and other essential commodities have left consumers frustrated at the weekly market in Kurowatol, Kaliabor, with many shoppers expressing concern over the growing burden on household budgets.

People who came to the market for their regular purchases voiced their anger over the sharp increase in prices, saying the continuous rise in the cost of essential goods is making it increasingly difficult for ordinary families to manage their daily expenses.

Several consumers urged the government and the Supply Department to take the issue seriously, monitor market prices and ensure that essential commodities remain available at reasonable rates.

Shoppers also called for greater accountability and timely intervention from the authorities, saying effective steps are needed to control unnecessary price hikes and protect the interests of the general public.
