The Bodoland People's Front (BPF) convened its 6th Central Triennial Conference at the Bengtol Jangkhrikhang Field in Chirang District, marking a crucial event ahead of the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections.
The conference began with the hoisting of the party flag by BPF President and former BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary, signifying the party's readiness for the electoral battle.
On January 19, the Parent Body and Central Working Committee of the BPF held a strategic meeting, resulting in 23 key decisions aimed at strengthening the party's position. Discussions centred on campaign strategies and the formulation of a robust roadmap for the BTC elections.
The conference took a sharp political turn with fiery allegations from BPF MLA Durga Das Boro against Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Promod Boro. Addressing the gathering, Durga Das Boro accused Promod Boro of mismanagement, failing to deliver on promises, and alleged corruption.

“Promod Boro will sell BTC if he gets money,” Durga Das Boro claimed, further alleging that Promod Boro had already compromised various departments of the BTC. He criticized the CEM for neglecting infrastructure development and failing to repair roads constructed during Hagrama Mohilary's tenure, despite lofty promises of transforming the BTC into "Switzerland."
Amid the political rhetoric, Durga Das Boro exuded confidence in BPF's prospects, stating that the party's return to power was inevitable. He described the upcoming elections as an opportunity for a new chapter in the region’s governance, with BPF reclaiming its leadership role.
The conference has not only energized the party cadre but also set the stage for a heated political battle in the Bodoland Territorial Region. The BPF's sharp criticism of Promod Boro's administration and its detailed election strategy highlights the high stakes involved in the forthcoming elections.
As the political discourse intensifies, all eyes are on the BTC elections, which promise to be a crucial determinant of the region's political and developmental trajectory.
