In a dramatic operation reminiscent of the blockbuster South Indian film Pushpa, Arunachal police seized a total of 11 trucks loaded with smuggled timber near the Assam-Arunachal border areas of Balijan and Ambikapur in the Shantipur region of Sadiya.
According to reports, the Roing Police in Arunachal Pradesh have intensified their crackdown on illegal timber smuggling operations.
Acting on a tip-off, the Superintendent of Police, Roing, received intelligence that 11 timber-laden trucks were preparing to leave from the Balijan area along the Roing-Sadiya border and head towards Assam.

Based on this input, a special police team launched an operation in the area. However, upon sensing the police movement, the smugglers attempted to flee towards Assam. In a chase straight out of a film, the Arunachal Police successfully intercepted all the trucks en route, although the drivers managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
Since the trucks had already crossed into Assam territory, the Roing Police handed over the seized vehicles to the Sadiya Police for further legal proceedings.
This incident once again highlights how rampant timber smuggling from Arunachal Pradesh continues unabated through Assam despite enforcement efforts.
