Raijor Dal steps up groundwork in Margherita ahead of Assam polls
Growing organisational activity in the Margherita Assembly seat has emerged as a key development as political parties intensify preparations for Assam’s 26th Assembly elections.
Raijor Dal, seeking to expand its presence in the Tinsukia district, has begun systematic booth-level outreach across the 83 Margherita constituency. Party candidate Rahul Chetry has been holding a series of public induction events, including a gathering in central Margherita on November 17, where about 100 residents from different social groups joined the party.
The sustained recruitment drive reflects Raijor Dal’s attempt to consolidate a local base in a constituency long dominated by the ruling party. Speaking at the event, Chetry said the party’s organisational network in Margherita had strengthened significantly over recent months.
He also criticised sitting MLA Bhaskar Sharma, suggesting the incumbent was becoming uneasy about Raijor Dal’s growing visibility in the area.
The constituency is expected to witness a competitive contest as the election approaches, with party activities accelerating across all major political camps.
