Raijor Dal’s Pradip Baruah to contest from Kaliabor, predicts ‘silent wave’ on April 9
Raijor Dal candidate Pradip Kumar Baruah on March 21 announced that he will contest the upcoming Assam Assembly elections from the 57 No. Kaliabor Legislative Assembly Constituency as part of the opposition alliance.
Addressing the media at his residence in Kaliabor, Baruah claimed that the April 9 polling day would witness a “dormant volcano erupt,” symbolising what he described as the silent anger and resentment of the people. He said that voters in Kaliabor are looking for a change in governance and would express their sentiments through the ballot.
Baruah asserted that there is a strong undercurrent in favour of the opposition alliance in the constituency. Leaders of the alliance, including Congress and Raijor Dal, expressed confidence that their joint candidate would secure victory in Kaliabor this time.
Meanwhile, Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi is expected to campaign extensively in the constituency and will participate in three to four election rallies in the coming days to mobilise support for Baruah.
Polling for the Assam Assembly elections is scheduled to be held on April 9.
