Raijor Dal's Rahul Chetry gets nod for 83rd Margherita seat amid scrutiny concerns
The candidature of Raijor Dal leader Rahul Chetry for the 83rd Margherita Legislative Assembly Constituency has been confirmed after he received clearance from the Tinsukia District Election Officer on March 24.
Chetry had filed his nomination papers on March 23 at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Tinsukia. However, his candidature had come under uncertainty during scrutiny due to the non-submission of certain documents, raising doubts over his eligibility to contest.
Officials later reviewed the submission, and after due verification, the District Election Officer granted approval, allowing Chetry to remain in the fray from the Margherita seat.
Following the confirmation, Chetry arrived in Margherita and addressed media persons, stating that he is now fully prepared to contest the upcoming Assam Assembly elections. His entry adds to the contest in the constituency, which is expected to witness a competitive political battle.
The development brings clarity to the Raijor Dal’s position in the Margherita constituency as parties intensify their campaign efforts ahead of the polls.
