Rakibul Hussain attacks Pradyut Bordoloi, Debashish Sharma over Congress leaders leaving party
Congress MP Rakibul Hussain on Thursday, September 10, launched a sharp attack on former MP Pradyut Bordoloi and former bureaucrat Debashish Sharma, days after two Congress leaders from the Samaguri constituency left the party.
Addressing a press conference in Rupohihat, Hussain alleged that Bordoloi was inducting people into the party out of fear of losing his position and was also contacting several Congress workers.
Hussain also criticised the Assam government’s campaign against alleged middlemen and questioned the manner in which the drive was being carried out.
He claimed that the alleged involvement of “real middlemen” could be established by investigating the call recordings of two MLAs. He also alleged that ordinary people were being intimidated in the name of the campaign.
Hussain further alleged that Debashish Sharma had started making frequent visits to the homes of alleged middlemen in Samaguri and warned that he would file a case against Sharma.
The Congress MP also accused Sharma of having “push-backed” a Muslim woman to Bangladesh while serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Nagaon district, alleging that she had been declared a Bangladeshi.
Hussain claimed that the Supreme Court has since directed that the woman be brought back to India.
