‘Rakibul Hussain does not understand decorum, he is TV Hussain’: MLA Diplu Ranjan Sarma takes jibe at Congress MP

Assam MLA Diplu Ranjan Sarma on Sunday, September 27 took a dig at Congress MP Rakibul Hussain and called him 'TV Hussain' during a rally held in Samaguri today. 

BJP organised a foot march from Konuwamari in Samaguri to Sonaribali as part of its campaign activities ahead of the Nagaon bypoll, with youth leader Mujibur Rahman leading the march.

MLA Diplu Ranjan Sarma joined the march and interacted with local residents. Before the foot march, Sarmah also participated in a game of carrom with residents in the area.

Addressing participants during the march, Sarmah launched a sharp attack on the Congress and its leaders, particularly targeting Congress MP Rakibul Hussain.

Taking a jibe at Hussain, Sarmah referred to him as “TV Hussain” while criticising what he described as the Congress leader's conduct and public statements.

“Gaurav Gogoi is the most unsuccessful president in independent India. I appeal to him to maintain some decorum while speaking. Rakibul Hussain is different. He does not understand decorum at all,” Sarmah said.

The BJP MLA also took a swipe at the Congress over its organisational position, saying the party could eventually struggle to find leaders willing to take up the post of president if its current situation continued.

“If the Congress remains in the condition it is in today, there will come a time when the party will not even find anyone to appoint as its president,” he said.

Sarmah also expressed confidence in BJP candidate Debashish Sharma's prospects in the Nagaon bypoll, saying he would win with the support of voters.

“With the cooperation and blessings of the people, Debashish Sharma will win the No. 9 Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency by a huge margin,” Sarmah said.

The remarks came amid intensified political activity in Nagaon ahead of the bypoll, with the BJP, Congress and other parties stepping up their campaigns.
