‘Rakibul's entire planning failed, Congress in turmoil now’: Badruddin Ajmal after filing nomination for Nagaon bypoll

All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal on Thursday, September 17 hit out at the Congress after filing his nomination for the upcoming Nagaon bypoll, claiming that his decision to contest the election had disrupted the Opposition party’s electoral strategy.

Ajmal said the Congress was “in turmoil” because he had entered the race and alleged that the party’s planning had been affected after he was given the ticket by the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).

“Rakibul’s entire planning has failed because Ajmal was given the ticket. The Congress is now disappointed,” Ajmal said after filing his nomination.

He also said the AIUDF would campaign on issues including eviction drives, price rise, education and healthcare during the bypoll.

Ajmal further criticised the Nagaon Police over an alleged security lapse involving his mobile phone. According to him, his Samsung Ultra mobile phone was allegedly stolen from his personal assistant while he was leaving after filing his nomination.

“Nagaon Police have not been able to provide security to us. How will they provide security to our mobile phones?” Ajmal said, questioning the security arrangements made by the district police.

The alleged theft took place shortly after Ajmal completed the nomination process, prompting him to raise concerns over the security arrangements in place during the election-related event.
