Rare albino hog deer spotted in Kaziranga National Park
A rare albino hog deer was recently spotted in Kaziranga National Park, drawing attention to the rich biodiversity of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Sharing visuals of the rare sighting on social media platform X, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma described the appearance of the animal as a symbol of Assam’s diverse wildlife.
“Not every day does one witness something this rare,” the chief minister wrote.
He said the sighting highlights the state’s commitment towards wildlife conservation and ensuring the protection of even the rarest species found in Assam’s forests.
Kaziranga National Park is known for its rich biodiversity and is home to several endangered and rare species, including the one-horned rhinoceros, wild buffaloes, swamp deer and tigers.
