Rs 26-crore road project connecting Assam and Arunachal inaugurated under Asom Mala in Margherita
A new road project aimed at improving connectivity between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh was formally inaugurated on the afternoon of March 13, at Margherita under the Asom Mala scheme.
The project involves the construction of an approximately 10-kilometre road from Margherita Tea Estate Tiniali in Margherita town to Deomali, with an estimated budget of Rs 26 crore.
Officials said the road is expected to enhance connectivity and ensure smoother transportation between the two neighbouring states, benefiting local residents and improving regional communication.
Speaking on the occasion, Anand Kumar Sharma said the construction work is expected to be completed within the next six to seven months this year.
The inauguration programme was attended by several local representatives and officials, including Margherita MLA representative Disen Tipomia, Councillor Rajendra Rai, Engineer Bibhuti Barua, and Ward Commissioner Bhim Karmakar, along with a large number of residents.
