RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat today met Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Dibrugarh before concluding his three day trip to Assam. Bhagwat also welcomed the historic peace accord with the ULFA (pro talk) faction.

Bhagwat met Sonowal today in Dibrugarh where they talked about the current situation in Assam. Along with Sonowal, other local leaders of the RSS were also present during the meeting. Also present at the meeting was Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH) superintendent Prasanta Dihingia.

As per sources, Bhagwat was also informed about the historic pact with ULFA (pro talk) yesterday in New Delhi, which he wholeheartedly welcomed and expressed hope that following the peace pact, the situation of Assam will further improve.

Noteworthy is that Bhagwat earlier landed in Dibrugarh on December 27, from where he went o the river island of Majuli. In Majuli, the RSS chief visited the Uttar Kamalabari Satra and met with other Satra heads.

During his Majuli stay, Bhagwat expressed deep concern over the increasing incidents of religious conversions in the northeastern region. Bhagwat highlighted the psychological aspect behind these conversions stating  that 70 percent of the population appears to be psychologically prepared to reconvert their religion to Hinduism.

Bhagwat concluded his stay at Majuli yesterday and returned to Dibrugarh yesterday evening. Following today's meet with Sonowal, the RSS chief concluded his Assam visit.
