Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has praised the Union Budget 2025, calling it a “victory budget”, especially for the Shipping and Ports department. Reflecting on the past decade, Sonowal highlighted the significant emphasis Prime Minister Narendra Modi has placed on strengthening the department through various policies and initiatives, making it “much stronger” today.
Sonowal expressed his optimism, stating, "In the last 10 years, PM Modi has paid exceptional attention to the Shipping and Ports department, and this budget continues to build on that foundation."
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sonowal shared his excitement over a major announcement in the budget – the setting up of a 12.7 lakh metric ton Urea Plant in Namrup, Assam, a long-standing demand of the local people. He thanked both the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Prime Minister Modi, saying, "Good news for Assam in #Budget2025. A long-time demand of the people, I express my sincere gratitude to Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji and Hon'ble FM for once again honoring the aspirations of the public."
The announcement has been welcomed as a major step in fulfilling the region's agricultural needs, boosting local production and contributing to the state's economic growth.
