Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika has issued a sharp appeal to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, urging her to protect Hindus amid recent unrest in the state.
While protests in other parts of the country remained largely contained, Hazarika claimed that West Bengal witnessed a failure in ensuring the safety of native Sanatani Hindus.
“Appeasement politics has forced Hindus to flee their own homes,” said Hazarika. “I urge Didi—do not abandon them. Protect them. That is your duty.”

The statement comes in the wake of communal tensions reported in parts of Bengal, where visuals of displacement and unrest have sparked political and public outcry.
Though the West Bengal government has yet to officially respond, Hazarika's remarks are likely to intensify the ongoing political tug-of-war between the Trinamool Congress and BJP-led governments in the Northeast and Centre.
