Scooter rider killed in collision with oil tanker in Assam’s Nagaon
A scooter rider died after colliding with an oil tanker at Badal Gaon in Assam’s Nagaon district on October 8, police said.
The accident occurred under the jurisdiction of Nonoi Police Outpost when the scooter and the oil tanker were travelling in the same direction towards Nagaon. The impact of the collision threw the scooter rider under the moving tanker, according to reports.
Local residents and police rushed to the spot and rescued the rider in a critical condition. He was taken to Nagaon Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead while undergoing treatment.
The deceased was identified as Sudipta Ghosh, a resident of Langting in Dima Hasao district. He was living in Chakitup, Nagaon, for work and was employed as an electrician at Gram Vikash Parishad.
The scooter bore registration number AS 02 AN 1211, while the oil tanker was registered as AS 01 AF 2065.
Police have seized both vehicles and initiated an investigation into the accident.
