“Seeing the success of the Samay Parivartan Yatra, BJP is copying us”: Gaurav Gogoi

Assam Congress President and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi on February 28 said the party has submitted a detailed note to its top leadership regarding alliance discussions ahead of the elections, outlining the parties with whom talks have already been completed.

Speaking to the media, Gogoi said the state unit has furnished a comprehensive report to the Congress high command and will strictly follow the directions issued by the party’s central leadership. “We have submitted our note to our top leadership on the alliance, in which we have outlined which parties the alliance talks have been completed with. We have given the full report to our party's top leadership. We will follow whatever instructions come from the top leadership,” he said.

Taking a swipe at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Assam Congress chief alleged that the ruling party is attempting to imitate the opposition’s outreach programme. Gogoi claimed that the BJP has started copying the Congress-led Samay Parivartan Yatra after witnessing its growing public response.

“Seeing the success of the Samay Parivartan Yatra that we have started, the BJP is copying us,” Gogoi said, asserting that the response from people to the Congress campaign reflects rising public dissatisfaction with the current government.

Gogoi’s remarks come amid ongoing political realignments and alliance negotiations in Assam, with parties gearing up for the upcoming electoral battles and intensifying grassroots-level campaigns across the state.
