The mother of a missing youth from Uday Nagar, Sadiya, Assam has urged ULFA (Independent) chief commander Paresh Baruah to allow her son to return home. With her health deteriorating and her heart burdened by years of silence, the mother called upon the militant leader to show compassion and facilitate her son's return.
The appeal concerns Janardan Gogoi, a married man who left his home on April 16, 2022, under the pretext of traveling to Tinsukia for official work. He never returned, and is believed to have joined the banned insurgent outfit ULFA (Independent).
The family’s ordeal intensified after Janardan’s disappearance—especially since it came barely four months after the death of his father. Now, his aging and ailing mother lives in constant anguish, awaiting a reunion that grows more uncertain with each passing day.
Janardan’s wife and young son, too, remain hopeful, though their lives have been shadowed by emotional and financial instability. The household, once secure and whole, is now on the verge of collapse.
“I spend each day praying for his return. My health is failing. I just want to see my only son once again,” the mother said through tears.
Adding to the heartfelt appeal, Janardan’s elder sister also reached out to her brother, urging him to consider the emotional toll his absence has taken on the family and to return home for their sake.
