Siddharth Pratim Dutta clarifies viral HIV claim involving accused Ramanujan Goswami in wife’s murder case

Social worker Siddharth Pratim Dutta has issued an explanation video clarifying his earlier remarks regarding the reported HIV status of Ramanujan Goswami, who is accused in the case involving the death of his wife.

In the video, Dutta said that he was the person who had spoken about Goswami having HIV, and claimed that the condition had allegedly been kept hidden from Goswami’s wife.

Dutta said he felt the need to clarify the matter amid growing discussion and reactions to his earlier statement. He maintained that his remarks were made in the context of the case and also stressed that sensitive medical information should be treated with confidentiality.

He further expressed sadness over the fact that the deceased woman was being blamed in public discussions surrounding the case. Dutta said the focus should remain on the alleged crime rather than placing blame on the victim.

Identifying himself as an Assamese and a follower of the Bhagavad Gita, Dutta said that committing a crime was wrong and that concealing serious wrongdoing was also unacceptable.

He reiterated that he would stand by truth, faith and justice, while the facts of the case and the legal process would ultimately determine the outcome.

The statements regarding Goswami’s HIV status and the allegation that it was concealed from his wife are attributed to Dutta and have not been independently verified.
