Silchar doctor removes genitals of Manipur patient without consent during biopsy; FIR lodged

A man from Manipur has filed a police complaint alleging that doctors at RE Hospital in Silchar surgically removed his genitals without his consent during what was supposed to be a routine biopsy.

The procedure was carried out by Dr Eden Sinha, who is now the subject of an FIR registered at the Gungoor police outpost.

The incident came to light after the 28-year-old patient, who had been suffering from a genital infection, sought medical care from Dr Sinha.

He claims he was advised to undergo a biopsy to determine the nature of the infection. However, following the procedure, he discovered that his genitals had been surgically removed without any prior warning, discussion, or consent.

The patient has accused the doctor and hospital of serious medical negligence and violation of his bodily autonomy. He is now calling on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to intervene and ensure accountability in the case.
