Six alleged conmen arrested in Assam's Nagaon for fraud and extortion

Assam Police have intensified their crackdown on alleged fraudsters, conmen and middlemen, with six persons arrested in separate operations in Juria, Dhing and Juria police station areas of Nagaon district.

 

In Juria, police arrested three persons identified as Atikur Rahman alias Teddy, Fakker Uddin alias Fakkু and Abul Kalam on allegations of fraud, cheating and collecting money by promising to settle police complaints.

 

According to the allegations, the accused were involved in taking money in the name of settling FIRs, allegedly colluding with police personnel to suppress or dispose of complaints, and collecting money through fraudulent means.

 

Meanwhile, Dhing Police arrested two alleged fraudsters identified as Harmuz Ali and Inchan Ali in connection with separate cheating-related allegations.

 

In another operation, Jajari Police arrested an alleged fraudster identified as Sariful Islam.

 

The arrests come as police continue their drive against alleged conmen, fraudsters and individuals involved in illegal money collection across Nagaon district.

 

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the specific allegations against each of the accused and determine whether they were connected to any wider network of fraudulent activities.
