Slogans alone cannot safeguard a community without work culture: Assam CM
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday, February 19, said that slogans alone cannot ensure the progress or protection of a community, highlighting the need for greater focus on work culture and economic participation among the youth.
Speaking at a programme in Tezpur, the Chief Minister remarked that while slogans played a role during past movements, long-term development requires active involvement in productive sectors such as business and entrepreneurship.
He also called upon Assamese youth to take part in various fields of economic activity, including construction and trade, and emphasised the importance of developing a strong work ethic.
Referring to recent political developments, Sarma declined to accept the open debate challenge on Hindutva issued by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Gaurav Gogoi in Guwahati.
The Chief Minister further stated that the state government has cleared around 1.5 lakh bighas of encroached land so far and plans to free an additional 5 lakh bighas in the coming period.
