Speeding motorcycle leaves Assam man critically injured in Cachar road accident

A man was critically injured after being hit by a speeding motorcycle while attempting to cross the Silchar–Jaintia Road at Harinchhara in Assam's Cachar district on Saturday night.

The victim, identified as Surya Lal Bauri, a resident of Bhitor Gangapur Part-I, was crossing the road in the Barkhola area when the motorcycle struck him with force, throwing him onto the road and leaving him with serious injuries.

Police from Barkhola reached the spot shortly after being alerted and, with the assistance of local residents, rushed the injured man to the Barkhola Primary Health Centre. Following initial treatment, doctors referred him to Silchar Medical College and Hospital as his condition was reported to be critical.

The accident sparked tension in the locality for a brief period before police restored order.

An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances leading to the crash and determine the identity and role of the motorcycle rider.
