Storm hits Assam’s South Salmara, ferry passengers escape unharmed
A storm accompanied by hail lashed several areas of South Salmara district in Assam on March 24, triggering panic among residents and ferry passengers.
According to local sources, strong winds and hail hit different parts of the district earlier in the day, disrupting normal life.
Chaos broke out on a ferry travelling from South Salmara to Airmari when the storm intensified mid-journey. Nearly a hundred passengers were on board at the time of the incident.
Passengers reportedly panicked as the ferry was rocked by strong winds. However, the crew managed to steer through the rough weather, and all passengers escaped unharmed.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
