Suspected Bangladeshi national detained in Assam's Sribhumi, foreign currency recovered

Amid reports of continuing atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh, a suspected Bangladeshi national was detained by local residents in Sribhumi, Assam on December 23 night, after he was found moving suspiciously in the area. Bangladeshi currency was recovered from his possession, triggering concern and curiosity among residents.


According to local sources, the incident occurred during the night hours on the Gach Kalibori Road in Sribhumi, where residents noticed an unidentified man roaming in a suspicious manner. Acting on their suspicion, locals questioned the individual and later detained him before informing the police.


During preliminary questioning, the man identified himself as Kamrul Islam, claiming to be a resident of Barishal, Bangladesh. A search conducted at the spot led to the recovery of Bangladeshi currency, further intensifying suspicion.


Police personnel soon reached the location and took the individual into custody. He was subsequently taken to the police station for further verification and investigation. Authorities are now probing the circumstances of his presence in the area and examining whether any legal or security violations are involved.
