Tension erupts in Assam's Kokrajhar over BTC market tender submission process
Tension prevailed in Kokrajhar on June 18 during the submission of tenders for markets across five districts under the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), following allegations that certain individuals were prevented from participating in the open tender process.
According to reports, an open tender invitation programme was being conducted at the Bodoland Guest House in Kokrajhar town for the settlement of 112 markets and 23 cattle markets spread across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
The situation reportedly turned tense after allegations emerged that a section of prospective bidders faced obstacles in submitting their tender documents. The claims led to an uneasy atmosphere at the venue, prompting authorities to closely monitor the developments.
In view of the situation, a large number of police personnel were deployed at the Bodoland Guest House to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident.
Officials have not yet issued a detailed statement regarding the allegations. Further details are awaited as the tender submission process continues under heightened security arrangements.
