Thousands join peace marathon rally in Assam's Kokrajhar

A mega marathon rally promoting peace drew more than 3,000 participants to Kokrajhar, headquarters of Assam's Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), on the morning of February 22.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate North East Region organised the event with the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) administration and GenCC Event Management. It started from Kokrajhar SAI Stadium, flagged off by NCC North East Additional Director General Anurag Vij and BRPL Executive Director NK Barua.

ADG Vij told reporters participants hailed from all seven Northeastern states and beyond, embodying national unity. The rally offered a 42 km full marathon, 21 km and 10 km runs, plus a 5 km fun run, all aimed at boosting fitness and harmony among youth.

Organisers highlighted the enthusiastic turnout as proof of rising interest in sports across the region, cementing Kokrajhar's status as BTR's go-to venue for big public gatherings.
