Three injured after family clash over chickens damaging crops in Assam’s West Karbi Anglong

A minor dispute over chickens damaging a seedling field escalated into a violent clash between two families in Nawabil No. 4 village under Kheroni Police Station in Assam's West Karbi Anglong, leaving three persons seriously injured.

According to police sources, the incident took place on the morning of April 16 when Rina Chauhan went to drive away chickens that were allegedly destroying her family’s crop. She was reportedly confronted and attacked by members of another family, but managed to escape and inform her parents.

Soon after, a group of five persons allegedly entered the house of Prem Sagar Chauhan armed with sharp weapons and sticks. They are accused of dragging Prem Sagar Chauhan, his wife Asha Devi, and another family member, Durga Chauhan, out of the house and assaulting them, causing grievous injuries.

The injured were initially taken to Kheroni Model Hospital and later referred to Diphu Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment, where they remain admitted.

A complaint has been lodged at the Mailoo Police Outpost, and police have registered a case. The assailants are also accused of looting cash and gold ornaments from the house during the attack
