Tragic end on NH-27: Two brothers from Barpeta killed after pickup truck bursts into flames near Jagiroad

What was meant to be the first journey in a newly purchased vehicle, turned into a fatal tragedy for two brothers from Barpeta. Both lost their lives after their vehicle met with a devastating accident and caught fire on National Highway 27 near Jagiroad late Tuesday night.

According to preliminary reports, the Bolero Max pickup truck (registration number AS-15AC-9919) was en route from Barpeta Road to Silchar, carrying a consignment of vegetables. The vehicle, reportedly moving at high speed, crashed violently into a road divider, leading to a suspected mechanical malfunction that caused the truck to burst into flames within moments.

Tragically, both the driver and the handyman became trapped inside the vehicle and were burnt alive before rescue efforts could reach them.

The deceased have been identified as Rohij Ali and Bachchu Ali, both residents of Naligaon village in Barpeta district. Emergency responders and local police from Jagiroad rushed to the site and managed to bring the fire under control, but by then, the charred remains of the victims were recovered from inside the wreckage.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and whether technical failure or over-speeding led to the tragedy.

The accident has left the local community in deep shock, mourning the untimely loss of the two brothers who had only recently begun operating their new vehicle.
