Triple burglary rocks Assam's Bongaigaon, gold worth over Rs 7 lakh stolen

A major burglary in Bongaigaon’s Barshongaon area has surprised and shocked residents where three homes were simultaneously targeted in a meticulously planned heist. The burglaries occurred while the residents were away, allowing miscreants to break in undisturbed.

The incident took place at the residences of Ajit Das, Beni Madhab Singh, and Satish Sharma. Notably, all three households were reportedly vacant at the time of the break-ins, making them vulnerable targets for the thieves.

According to police sources, gold ornaments worth over Rs 7 lakh were stolen from the house of Ajit Das alone. In Satish Sharma’s residence, the burglars made away with a quantity of gold jewellery along with some cash. The extent of loss at Beni Madhab Singh’s house is yet to be fully assessed.

The Superintendent of Police along with several senior police officials promptly arrived at the crime scene and launched a thorough investigation. Forensic teams have been pressed into service, and CCTV footage from the vicinity is being examined.

The nature of the coordinated burglary — affecting multiple households in the same neighborhood simultaneously — has raised serious questions about local surveillance and security preparedness.
