Truck carrying LPG cylinders crashes after wheel comes off on Assam's Silchar-Haflong highway

A major accident was narrowly averted on the Silchar-Haflong Highway in Assam's Durbintila area of Borkhola on the afternoon of July 28 after a truck loaded with LPG cylinders lost a wheel while in motion, causing the vehicle to go out of control.

 

According to reports, the truck bearing registration number AS-01UC-3967 was travelling from Haflong to Silchar when one of its rear wheels detached near Durbintila. Moments later, a front wheel also came off and rolled into a deep roadside gorge, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

 

The driver sustained minor injuries but escaped with his life. The accident triggered panic in the area as the truck was carrying LPG cylinders, though no explosion or major damage was reported.

 

On receiving information, a team from Borkhola Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector Abdul Haque Laskar, rushed to the spot and initiated necessary action. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
