Two arrested in kidnapping and firing cases in Assam's Dima Hasao district

Police in Dima Hasao district of Assam have arrested two persons allegedly involved in a kidnapping case and a firing incident reported in the region.

According to police, Suresh Kherksha alias Harish Chandra (42), a resident of Harichandrapur under Maibang Police Station, was arrested on the morning of March 7 by a team led by Officer-in-Charge Himanshu Borgohain.

Police said the accused was allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a truck driver from the Longkhor area on April 25, 2025. He was also reportedly linked to a firing incident that took place in Dikhakhor on February 16, 2026.

Officials said the district police had been searching for the accused for nearly a year before finally apprehending him during the operation.

In a related development, the police also arrested another suspect identified as Hamchen Dibragade (41), a resident of Faidin under Maibang Police Station, in connection with the case.
