Two Assam bravehearts receive Shaurya Chakra for exceptional gallantry
Assam has earned a moment of pride as two of its sons, Major Bhargav Kalita and Dhruva Jyoti Dutta, were conferred the prestigious Shaurya Chakra by Droupadi Murmu.
Major Bhargav Kalita was honoured for displaying exceptional courage and tactical brilliance during a counter-terrorism operation, while Dhruva Jyoti Dutta was recognised for his extraordinary bravery in saving eight fellow soldiers during an ambush in Manipur despite suffering a gunshot wound.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the duo's valour, dedication and selfless service to the nation, describing their achievements as a source of immense pride for the state and the country.
