Two critical, several hurt after head-on bus–truck collision on Assam’s NH-17
A head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck on National Highway 17 near the Shiv Mandir stretch at Nagopara has left two people critically injured and several others hurt, prompting a police investigation into the cause of the crash.
According to Boko Police Traffic In-Charge Ganesh Borgohain, the truck driver and a woman travelling on the bus suffered severe injuries and were transferred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for specialised care. Seven additional passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to Boko Primary Health Centre for treatment.
Police teams reached the scene shortly after the incident and coordinated the evacuation of the injured. The bus, registered as AS 18 AC 2113, and the truck, registered as AS 01 NC 6145, have been seized for forensic examination.
Borgohain confirmed that legal procedures have begun as officers work to determine how the collision occurred.
