Two drug peddlers arrested with ganja in Assam's Tinsukia, scooter and cash seized

Amid an intensified crackdown on drug trafficking and narcotic substances, Tinsukia Police achieved a significant success by arresting two alleged ganja peddlers during a secret operation at Powai Sidehing in the district.

The accused, identified as Hanif Ali and Mukesh Shah, both residents of Stationpara in Digboi, were apprehended after a police team led by DSP (Operations) Faiyaz Ahmed intercepted a suspicious scooter based on a tip-off.

During the search, police recovered 2.117 grams of banned ganja packed in two polythene bags. Along with the contraband, one scooter, cash amounting to Rs 3,970, and two mobile phones were also seized.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the accused were transporting the ganja from Tinsukia and intended to supply it in Margherita.
The arrested individuals were later handed over to Digboi Police for further investigation.

Police officials stated that the operation is part of an ongoing drive against drug trafficking in the district. Under the leadership of DSP Faiyaz Ahmed, several such operations have been carried out, leading to multiple arrests.
