Two robbers lynched by mob in Nagaon's Rupahihat after late-night robbery bid

In a shocking incident, two alleged robbers were beaten to death by a mob in No. 1 Kathpara area of Rupahihat following a late-night robbery attempt.

According to reports, a group of around 10–12 armed miscreants barged into the house of one Mujjamil Haque Choudhury at around 2 AM. The attackers, reportedly carrying sharp weapons, tied up the house owner and threatened his six-year-old daughter by placing a weapon on her neck.

The gang looted cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs 4 lakh from the house. However, as they attempted to flee, locals were alerted by cries for help and rushed to the scene.

Residents chased down the robbers and managed to capture four of them. In the ensuing mob assault, two of the accused were beaten to death. One of the deceased has been identified as Safiullah, while the identity of the other is yet to be confirmed.

The two injured accused have been identified as Imanul Haque from Kadamguri and Rakib Uddin from Pub Larimukh.

During the attack, the house owner, Mujjamil Haque Choudhury, sustained serious facial injuries.

Senior police officials, including the district Superintendent of Police, reached the spot and have launched an investigation into the incident.
