Two schoolgirls seriously injured in road accident in Assam’s Mairabari

Two schoolgirls were seriously injured after being hit by a speeding motorcycle while on their way to appear for a pre-matric examination in Assam’s Mairabari, Morigaon district, on January 9.

The accident occurred in front of Mairabari Senior Secondary School when a high-speed motorcycle allegedly being driven rashly rammed into the two students. Both victims sustained serious injuries in the incident.

The injured students were immediately shifted to Mairabari Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Following the incident, students of the school gathered at the hospital premises and demanded strict action against the biker responsible for the accident. The situation turned tense for a while as protesters urged the administration to take stringent measures against reckless and irresponsible drivers.

The incident has sparked strong reactions across the region, with locals alleging that frequent incidents involving rash bike riders have posed a serious threat to pedestrian safety in the area.
