Two women assaulted in Bongaigaon over dispute on firecrackers at wedding
Tension gripped a village in Assam’s Bongaigaon after a dispute over bursting firecrackers during a wedding escalated into a violent assault on two women.
The incident took place in Nankar Gaon under the jurisdiction of Bidyapur Police Outpost.
According to reports, a local resident had objected to the bursting of firecrackers late at night during a wedding function, leading to a heated argument between the two sides.
The situation turned violent the following day when members of the wedding party allegedly dragged two women out of their house and physically assaulted them, creating a tense atmosphere in the locality.
The injured woman has reportedly approached the police and lodged a complaint regarding the incident. Authorities have taken note of the matter, and further investigation is underway.
The incident has raised concerns over law and order and the need for restraint during social events in residential areas.
