ULFA (Independent) cadre held with arms, explosives in Assam's Dimow

An alleged cadre of ULFA (Independent) was arrested during a pre-dawn police operation at Palengi under Dimow in Assam’s Sivasagar district, police said on May 6.
 

The accused has been identified as Biren Chetia alias Rontu Asom (34), a resident of Bejpathar under the jurisdiction of Moran Police Station.
 

The operation was led by Sivasagar Senior Superintendent of Police Papori Chetia, along with Additional Superintendent of Police Maidul Islam and other district police officials.
 

During the raid, police recovered seven grenades, one bottle grenade, a 9 mm Beretta pistol, 10 rounds of live ammunition, cash amounting to Rs 13,500, mobile phones, and several incriminating documents from the possession of the accused.
 

Police suspect that the accused had taken shelter in the area as part of a possible sabotage plan. Further investigation is underway.
