Umrangso mine incident: Assam CM ensures 'safe return', minister Kaushik Rai visits site

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has ensured the safe return of nine miners trapped in Umrangso, a remote industrial town in Assam’s Dima Hasao district. 
 

As per reports, bodies of three miners have been spotted by the rescue team. They also spotted helmets and other items of the miners floating inside the mine. 
 

The Indian Army, in response to the incident, mobilised a relief task force to aid in the rescue operations. 
 

Following the deployment of the Indian Army team, Chief Minister Himanta, on his official X handle, extended gratitude and ensured that all efforts are being ensured to rescue the trapped miners. 
 

He stated, "Much gratitude for this quick response. We are deploying all possible efforts to ensure the safe return of our miners."
 

Newly-inducted Assam Cabinet Minister, Kaushik Rai also visited the incident site and took stock of the situation. He is monitoring the rescue operations.  
 

Chief Executive Member of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa also visited the site.
