Undertrial flees from Assam's Nagaon Medical College with handcuffs
An undertrial prisoner lodged at Nagaon Central Jail escaped from Nagaon Medical College and Hospital on September 9 while undergoing emergency medical treatment, triggering a search operation by police.
The undertrial, identified as Ahmad Ali, was lodged at Nagaon Central Jail and was facing charges in a drug trafficking case.
According to preliminary information, Ali was admitted to Nagaon Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday for emergency treatment. He allegedly took advantage of an opportunity and fled from the hospital premises while still wearing handcuffs.
Following the escape, Nagaon Police launched an operation to trace and apprehend the absconding undertrial.
