Unidentified man dies after coming in contact with high-voltage wire atop train engine in Assam’s Bongaigaon

An unidentified man died after coming in contact with a high-voltage overhead electric wire while allegedly standing on top of a goods train engine at Jogighopa railway station in Assam’s Bongaigaon district, officials said.

The incident took place at Jogighopa railway station when the Kolkata-Sairang Express (13125), travelling from the Bongaigaon side towards Guwahati, was at the station.

According to preliminary information, railway personnel spotted the man on top of the train engine in close proximity to the high-voltage overhead electrical wires.

Railway police brought him down from the train and rushed him to the Bongaigaon Civil Hospital for treatment.

However, he died shortly after receiving preliminary medical treatment, officials said.

The deceased has not yet been identified and his body has been kept at the morgue of Bongaigaon Civil Hospital.

The man is believed to be around 30 years old and was wearing jeans and a T-shirt at the time of the incident.

Railway police are trying to establish his identity and ascertain the circumstances that led to him being on top of the train engine.
