UPPL’s future in NDA alliance under review, says Pramod Boro
The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) is currently deliberating on whether to continue its alliance with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), with the party’s core committee meeting underway to discuss the matter. A final decision is expected soon.
Despite facing setbacks in the recent Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections, the UPPL has expressed its commitment to continue working for the welfare of the region. UPPL President Pramod Boro made the statement on Friday after taking the oath as a Member of the Legislative Council Assembly (MCLA) at the BTC Conference Hall. “We will continue to serve the people with full dedication, regardless of the political situation,” Boro said.

The political landscape in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) has seen a notable shift following the victory of the Hagrama Mohilary-led Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) in the recent BTC elections. While not officially confirmed, the BPF is reportedly aligned with the NDA, as evidenced by the induction of BPF MLA Charan Boro into the Assam Cabinet.
Speculation also suggests that the new BPF-led BTC government may offer two Executive Member positions to BJP representatives and designate Bijitgwra Narzary as Deputy Speaker of the BTC Legislative Assembly, indicating potential power-sharing arrangements within the NDA framework in Bodoland.
