Uttar Pradesh man held in Assam's Lumding over alleged attempt to take 13-year-old girl away

A youth from Uttar Pradesh was detained in Assam’s Lumding town in Hojai district following allegations that he attempted to take a 13-year-old girl to Uttar Pradesh.

The detained youth has been identified as Taskin Akhtar, reportedly a resident of Noida in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the allegations, Akhtar was attempting to travel to Uttar Pradesh with the minor girl. Members of the local Rashtriya Bajrang Dal unit reportedly became aware of the matter and intercepted him in front of Lumding Railway Station before he could proceed further.

They subsequently informed the police, who took the youth into custody and initiated an investigation into the incident.
