Video: Assam woman tortured, thrown into river over witchcraft fears

At a time when Assam Chief Minister is planning to develop Dibrugarh as the second capital of the state, a disturbing incident of witchcraft has emerged from Ramai village in No. 1 Rajgarh, Dibrugarh, where a woman was allegedly assaulted and thrown into a river after being accused of practicing witchcraft.


The victim, identified as Monika Changa, was reportedly dragged out of her home, subjected to severe physical torture, and later thrown into the river in a critical condition. Her husband was also assaulted during the attack.


Upon receiving information, Lahowal police rushed to the scene and managed to rescue the victim. She has since been admitted to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), where she remains in critical condition.


Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and legal action against the perpetrators is expected to follow.
