‘Vote Chori’ continues despite equal voting rights, Congress leader alleges in Haflong

All India Congress Committee (AICC) leader Anil Yadav on October 27 accused the BJP and the Election Commission of India of undermining the electoral process, alleging that “vote chori” continues despite every citizen having equal voting rights.

Addressing a press conference at Rajiv Bhawan in Haflong, the Congress leader said the vote of a wealthy citizen carries the same value as that of a person from a poor background, making electoral equality a fundamental pillar of democracy.

Yadav alleged that the credibility of this principle was being compromised and questioned the transparency and impartiality of the electoral process. He accused the BJP and the Election Commission of allowing what the Congress describes as “vote chori”.

The AICC leader said the right to vote extended beyond merely casting a ballot, arguing that voters must be able to exercise their franchise freely and that their mandate must be accurately reflected in election results.

He also warned that concerns over electoral transparency could erode public confidence in democratic institutions.

The allegations reflect the Congress party’s continuing criticism of the electoral process and the BJP. No specific instance of alleged vote theft was detailed in the account of the press conference.
