Waterlogging disrupts classes at Adarsh Hindi Vidyalaya in Assam’s Bargolai

Persistent waterlogging at Adarsh Hindi Vidyalaya in Bargolai has disrupted classes and school activities, with students facing difficulties in attending school during the monsoon season.

The school, located under the 83rd Margherita Assembly constituency in Tinsukia district, was established in 1972. Its premises reportedly remain waterlogged every year during the monsoon, which lasts from May to September.

Headmaster D Rama Rao said the school has repeatedly approached the concerned authorities seeking a permanent solution to the problem, but little action has been taken so far.

The waterlogging has made it difficult for students to use the school ground for morning assembly, prayers, sports and other activities, he said.

“Students face difficulties in coming to the ground for morning assembly, prayers, sports and other activities,” Rama Rao said.

Waterlogging is a recurring problem in several parts of the Margherita Co-District during the rainy season, affecting educational institutions, business establishments and government offices.

Rama Rao appealed to the Margherita Co-District Administration and representatives of the Bargolai Gaon Panchayat to take steps to address the issue and prevent it from affecting the students’ education.
