‘We cannot comment on higher court cases’: Himanta Biswa Sarma on Zubeen Garg death case

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on October 12 expressed hope that the fast-track court hearing the death case of singer Zubeen Garg would deliver justice, citing the continued proceedings in the matter.

Responding to questions regarding protests by Garima Saikia Garg and the Zubeen Garg Fan Club, Sarma said the government could not comment on cases pending before the High Court or the Supreme Court.

However, referring to the proceedings before the fast-track court, the Chief Minister said the case had been receiving regular attention and expressed confidence that the judicial process would deliver justice.

“We are hopeful that we will get good justice from the fast-track court,” Sarma said, referring to the manner in which the court has been proceeding with the case.

He also pointed to the fact that the case had continued to be heard over an extended period, expressing hope that the proceedings would ensure justice for the late singer.

The Chief Minister’s remarks came amid continued public attention and demands for justice in connection with Zubeen Garg’s death.
