While Assam awaits justice, Bokakhat brothers keep Zubeen’s musical legacy alive since 1992

Even as days pass, an air of silence and anticipation lingers across Assam, as though time itself stands still in the collective wait for justice for Zubeen Garg. Hope remains alive in every Assamese heart, uniting people across boundaries through one shared voice, the call for justice for their beloved icon.

In a touching example of enduring devotion, two brothers from Kuruwabahi village in Bokakhat, Dibakar and Dipankar Bora, have preserved Zubeen Garg’s musical journey in its truest form, through his timeless cassettes. Their collection, dating back to as early as 1992, remains an emotional treasure trove for the family and a reminder of the golden era of Assamese music.

From Anamika, one of Zubeen’s earliest creations, to his final recorded works, every cassette has been carefully safeguarded by the brothers. Their home stands as a symbol of love, nostalgia, and unbroken connection to the artist who defined a generation’s soul.

Even today, these cassettes continue to echo Zubeen’s voice not just through melodies, but through memories that keep him alive in the hearts of millions across Assam.
